Welcome 2010-2011 SES Providers!
SES Providers, We are extending an invitation to all SES Providers for the school year 2010-2011. Under the No Child Left Behind (NCLB), when a Title 1 Part A campus is identified for Stage 2, 3, 4 and 5 of the School Improvement Program (SIP), the Arlington Independent School District (AISD) is required to arrange for the provision of Supplemental Education Services (SES) for students from low-income families. SES is defined as tutoring opportunities for students that are free to parents and are in addition to instruction provided outside of the school day either before school, after school or on weekends. Provided in the areas of Reading, English Language Arts, Math and Science, these services must be high quality, and designed to increase the academic achievement of eligible students on the Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS) test and to assist students in attaining proficiency in meeting the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) academic standards. SES is not homework assistance. The SES program is free to parents and paid by the school district. The SES provider must be prepared to offer services until payment is received. AISD will only pay for tutoring services for eligible students that attends SES. These services are providing parents with an opportunity for their child to received additional tutoring in order to improve student achievement. SES must be offered outside of the school day: before or after school, weekends, winter, spring and summer break. SES Providers are offered the opportunity to use the district facilities to help eliminate the transportation barriers that families may face in accessing SES at offsite locations. Steps for becoming an SES Provider in AISD: • After AISD sends an e-mail invitation, the provider has 10 business days to affirmatively respond and return the SES Provider Contact Information Form. The last day to respond is August 6, 2010. • Providers who do not respond affirmatively by August 6, 2010 will not be offered a contract with the AISD. • Providers must attend the introductory meeting and all schedule meetings after that. • After receipt of the contract the SES Provider has until August 24, 2010 to review, sign, and return the fully executed contract to AISD. To complete a contract with AISD the following documents are also needed: proof of insurance according to contract amounts, W-9 and submission of the Independent Contractor Application together with Criminal History Record Information Authorization. Failure to submit all required documentation by the August 24, 2010 timeframe will void the contract, and the provider will not be able to do business with AISD for the current school year. • Providers will refrain from contacting eligible campuses until written approval from the AISD is received. We are looking forward to the 2010-2011 school year and working with all SES providers!
