Vision Statement

 

The vision of the Arlington Independent School District STEM Academy is to prepare students who are socially responsible, globally aware and locally engaged and are prepared to excel as 21st century leaders and innovators in STEM college degree programs and STEM careers.

Mission Statement

 

The mission of the Arlington Independent School District STEM Academy is to engage students focused on science, technology, engineering and math to be contributing, responsible citizens reaching their maximum potential through relevant, innovative and rigorous learning experiences at the high school and college level that prepare them to be successful as STEM college majors and in STEM careers.

Objectives

 

  • 100 percent of students will graduate on time and excel at UT Arlington or their college of choice.
  • 100 percent of students will graduate with hours earned in a STEM major from UT Arlington.
  • 100 percent of students will engage in a capstone course that provides meaningful STEM career experience.
  • 100 percent of students will reach their full academic potential.
  • 100 percent of students will be actively involved in extracurricular and co-curricular activities.
  • 100 percent of students will graduate as lifelong learners with an interest in science, technology, engineering and/or math.
  • 100 percent of students will graduate with a commitment to their community

 

Goals

 

Inspired Learners

  • The STEM Academy will expose students to rigorous science, technology, engineering and math curriculum in order to develop a pathway to a future STEM career.
  • The STEM Academy will develop a diverse group of students who will be successful as STEM majors in college with no remediation required.
  • The STEM Academy will graduate students who will have an opportunity to complete their first year of STEM college courses and up to 32 UT Arlington semester credit hours prior to high school graduation.
  • The STEM Academy will graduate students with additional college credit earned through AP courses.

Effective Leadership

  • The STEM Academy will develop students with strong leadership skills that allow them to communicate and collaborate with others.

Engaged Community

  • The STEM Academy will develop students who are socially responsible, globally aware and locally engaged.
  • The STEM Academy will strengthen ties among the school district, UT Arlington and STEM-related businesses in our community.
