The STEM Academy Application is available on this website or applicants may choose to complete the paper application


The STEM Academy application window for 2018-2019 is November 14 - January 31.  


  • Online applications must be completed by January 31, 2018.  Students not currently enrolled in AISD that submit the online application are required to mail proof of residency and an official student transcript.  These documents must be postmarked on or before January 31, 2018 and mailed or delivered to the STEM Academy at the address below.

STEM Academy Informational Meeting

Due to construction in the MHS Auditorium, we will hold 2 information meetings.  Please plan to attend your information session.

January 31, 2018

STEM Academy Notifications of Interview Status

Mid to Late February - All applicants will be notified by mail

STEM Academy Interviews at the STEM Academy at Martin High School in the Library

March 2018 Dates TBD from 4:30-8:30 p.m.

STEM Academy Notifications

March 24, 2018 - Letters will be mailed to all students who completed the STEM Academy Interview process.

STEM Academy Summer Orientation

TENTATIVE August 6-10, 2018 (attendance expected and highly encouraged)


Requirements and Criteria for Admission


Minimum Requirements to be eligible to apply to the STEM Academy

  • Current AISD student or reside within the Arlington ISD boundaries
  • Current 8th grader
  • Maintain a semester average of 80 or better in all core classes
  • Successful completion of Pre-AP Algebra I prior to the start of school or agree to take class a) over the summer or b) double block math during their 9th or 10th grade school year

  • Download and print a paper copy of the application
  • or ask your AISD Junior High School Counselor for an application


Teacher Recommendations

  • Teacher recommendations will be secured for each student on behalf of the student.
  • The STEM Academy will send an electronic recommendation form to teachers to complete and submit electronically.

Interview and Assessment (if selected to advance to the interview process)

  • Complete an individual interview
  • Complete the On-Site Writing Assignment


Attend STEM Academy Summer Orientation (August 6-10, 2018)
