In Leverage Leadership, Chapter 2 focuses on “Observations and Feedback”. One core idea in the text is: “Teachers are like tennis players they develop most quickly when they receive frequent feedback and opportunities to practice”.

Studies show that frequent feedback in a continuous cycle of communication between the teacher and campus leader lead to improved practice. One of our district beliefs in the strategic plan is to sustain a positive culture that promotes continuous improvement by all. AISD strives to provide a safe learning environment for student and adult learners.

How can coaching foster reflective transformation in teaching practices to benefit student learning?  This text articulates ways a coaching mindset shift can impact continuous improvement in practices.

Chapter 5 focuses on “Powerful Communication Skills” in which four skills are explored: committed listening, paraphrasing, presuming positive intent /powerful questions, and reflective feedback.

The new teacher evaluation system T-TESS encourages a coaching relationship between the appraiser and the teacher. This text provides a transparent continuum of coaching resources and practice for a novice to skillful educator.
