Welcome to IB Physics class! In your first year of physics you covered the two main topics of physics—mechanics and electricity & magnetism. In this second-year class, we will review those topics as well as tackle a whole of host of new ones—climate change, magnetism, thermodynamics, optics, oscillations. We will explore these various subjects through study, lecture, group discussions, and labs.
Our ultimate goal is, of course, for you to be prepared to score well on the IB tests coming up in May, which account for 76% of your overall IB mark. We will also do a lot of lab work in the rigorous manner that IB requires. Labs and the Group Four project make up the bulk of your internal assessment score, which counts for 24% of your IB mark.
- 35% Tests, projects
- 25% Quizzes
- 20% Class work/Homework
- 20% Labs (internal assessment)
Grades are updated in TEAMS 2-3 times per week, typically at the end of the school day.
