I am absolutely thrilled to be at Lamar High School! Let me share a little about myself. I spent most of my childhood in the Chicago area, but graduated from Martin HS here in Arlington. After graduating with a degree in mathematics from the University of Texas in Austin, I taught at Venture School, a dropout prevention program in the AISD, for eight years, then completed an administrative internship at Farrell Elementary. I served as assistant principal at Venture School for four years, then became an assistant principal at Lamar in 2008. From 2009-2014, I was the principal at Shackelford Junior High, and I was named principal at Lamar on August 21, 2014. My wife and I live in Arlington with our three children.
I look forward to Lamar being a premier school in every measurable way. Most importantly, I want our students to be able to say "Lamar prepared me for life, and I'm proud to be a Viking." That's an expansive goal because it suggests more than simply academics. "Preparation for life" implies an awareness of one's strengths and opportunities for growth, as well as one's passions and responsibilities. For a student to become aware of these things, we have to provide quality opportunities and quality examples, and that is our goal and challenge. As we strive to have the best school possible for our kids, please don't hesitate to email (firstname.lastname@example.org) or call (682.867.8304). We have a lot of work to do, but it's incredibly worthwhile. VFND!
Greetings Viking Parents,
We are very fortunate to offer our students numerous extra-curricular opportunities, and we are fortunate that so many of our students are involved in multiple activities. Occasionally, students will have conflicting events on the same day, and the attached memo delineates expectations for students and staff in navigating those conflicts. We have asked our coaches and sponsors to review the memo with their students and to provide them a copy. If you have any questions about the process, please let me know.
