This course, a chronological survey of American literature, integrates literature, composition, grammar, and vocabulary through representative readings from historical documents, essays, dramas, short stories and novels of significant American writers. Research skills and literature analysis are stressed. There is a focus on persuasive writing.

End of Course (EOC) tested.

This course is worth 1 credit.

English IV

This course, a survey of British literature, integrates writing and language concepts and skills and literature and reading concepts and skills. This course includes intensive writing instruction, which focuses on informative and analytical writing. The course provides the critical thinking, reading, and writing skills necessary for college entrance and does apply toward the recommended transcript.
